L. A. King Co. was founded in 1954 by Lawrence A. King, in Oklahoma City.
We were a distributor of insulating and sound-deadening materials.
Interestingly, the first gas turbine electric power generation plant in North America was built in Oklahoma City around this time.
It was the Belle Isle Station plant, owned and operated by Oklahoma Gas & Electric (G&E).
It utilized a 3.5MW GE turbine.
At the time, gas turbines were being reliably used to propel airplanes, but the longer, continuous operating loads required for electricity generation had not been tested.

High temperatures inherent in outlet ducts and/or flu gas ducts require the use of materials that have a higher melting point.
High melting point materials that are also flexible tend to be permeable, i.e. they don't provide the important vapor or chemical seal.
So, we use rubber (fluoropolymer) blends (generally a PTFE) for the vapor barrier, and then protect it from the heat with materials that are insulating and have a high melting point.
At lower temperature (200F to 600F) this could be woven fiberglass laminated to fiberglass reinforced PTFE.
